CCAC Player of the Week, Ryan Kern, helped the Tigers to five wins this past week
CHICAGO --- The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference office announced its first two weekly honors in the sport of baseball for the 2013 season on Tuesday morning. Olivet Nazarene University's Ryan Kern (Bloomington, Ill.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending March 10.
Kern, a senior first baseman, batted .433 with 13 hits in 30 at bats and 14 runs batted in. Six of Kern's 13 hits went for extra bases with four being doubles and two being home runs leading to a .767 slugging percentage. He also scored nine runs and stole three bases.
Kern opened the week producing multiple hits in each of his first four games and finished with five multiple-hit contests all told.
Olivet Nazarene went 5-5 on the week and are 11-8 overall.
