CHICAGO --- Olivet Nazarene University's Daniel Schneider (West Salem, Wis.) hit an astounding .706 and collected at least one hit and one RBI in each of his five games played last week to earn Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week honors, it was announced by the league office Wednesday morning.
Schneider, who captured his honor for the second straight week, totaled 12 hits in 17 plate appearances with a pair of four-hit games and three multi-hit games overall. He was even better in the run batted in department, where he produced four multi-RBI contests with 10 total RBI (2.0 per game).
Added to those numbers were three games in which he scored a pair of runs leading to seven runs scored all told, not to mention going a perfect 5-for-5 in the stolen base category.
In a three-game series with Trinity Christian over the weekend, Schneider went 9-for-12 (.750) with five runs scored and another six driven in. Those numbers helped lead to the senior outfielder's 2.4 hits per game average during the week.
Overall, the Tigers were 32-17 heading into the postseason tournament.
