LEWISTON, Idaho – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 266 baseball student-athletes have been named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Hastings (Neb.) leads all institutions with nine individuals on the list.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Olivet Nazarene University had six honored this year: senior catcher Alex Cavender (Momence, Ill.), senior outfielder Justin Fahy (Fargo, N.D.), senior pitcher Ben Heller (Whitewater, Wis.), and senior outfielder Daniel Schneider (West Salem, Wis.).  Also included were junior pitchers Steven Beckham (Mt. Vernon, Ill.) and Jonathan Fightmaster (Bourbonnais, Ill.). All four seniors received the honor for the second time.
