Ill. — Nick Campe, a 6'2" senior from
Manteno, Ill., signed a letter of intent to continue his education and playing
career at Olivet Nazarene University. He becomes a member of the 2015
recruiting class for the Tiger baseball team.
Nick is a
homeschool student and plays his high school ball with Grace Christian Academy. He started playing for the Cruaders his
sophomore year. He received the team MVP
and Crusader Award (leadership award) in 2012, and the Cy Young (pitching) Award
in 2013. For the 2014 season, he will
play for Kankakee Trinity Academy.
He also has
played for Team Demarini (Lemont, Ill.) — formerly called New Lenox Rebels Black — and Coach Joe Dallio. On the team's website, Coach Dallio said: “Nick has been the captain for Coach Dallio for the past six seasons. Nick brings a quick strong bat
(90 exit velocity), steady defense and a strong arm (83-85 fastball), along with
loyalty, dedication and leadership.”
Demarini last summer, Nick and his team traveled to Illinois State University; Perfect
Games in Atlanta, Ga.; Kent State University (Ohio); and Iowa State University
for the Kernels Foundation Championship. He also played in other local college tournaments at North Central College
(Ill.), Olivet and Benedictine University (Ill.).
plays basketball at Kankakee Trinity Academy. In his sophomore (2012) and
junior years (2013), he earned the Eagle Leadership Award.
Currently, Nick carries a 3.8 grade point average and is receiving As in all dual credit classes he has taken at Kankakee Community College. At Olivet, he plans to study business with
a minor in marketing. He hopes to one
day manage his own business.
