BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Nick Campe, a 6'2" senior from Manteno, Ill., signed a letter of intent to continue his education and playing career at Olivet Nazarene University. He becomes a member of the 2015 recruiting class for the Tiger baseball team.

Nick is a homeschool student and plays his high school ball with Grace Christian Academy. He started playing for the Cruaders his sophomore year. He received the team MVP and Crusader Award (leadership award) in 2012, and the Cy Young (pitching) Award in 2013. For the 2014 season, he will play for Kankakee Trinity Academy.

He also has played for Team Demarini (Lemont, Ill.) — formerly called New Lenox Rebels Black — and Coach Joe Dallio. On the team's website, Coach Dallio said: “Nick has been the captain for Coach Dallio for the past six seasons. Nick brings a quick strong bat (90 exit velocity), steady defense and a strong arm (83-85 fastball), along with loyalty, dedication and leadership.”

For Team Demarini last summer, Nick and his team traveled to Illinois State University; Perfect Games in Atlanta, Ga.; Kent State University (Ohio); and Iowa State University for the Kernels Foundation Championship. He also played in other local college tournaments at North Central College (Ill.), Olivet and Benedictine University (Ill.).

He also plays basketball at Kankakee Trinity Academy. In his sophomore (2012) and junior years (2013), he earned the Eagle Leadership Award.

Currently, Nick carries a 3.8 grade point average and is receiving As in all dual credit classes he has taken at Kankakee Community College. At Olivet, he plans to study business with a minor in marketing. He hopes to one day manage his own business.

He and his family attend People’s Church in Bourbonnais.
