Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.
ONU had six Tigers honored for their work in the classroom; senior defensive back Michael Barkley (Climax, Mich.) and offensive lineman Chad McDaniel (Potterville, Mich.). Juniors honored were offensive lineman Seth Barrigear (Holland, Mich.), defensive back Mark Kosrow (Hoffman Estates, Ill.), linebacker Colin Riberdy (Bradley, Ill.), and tight end Colton Parker (Franklin, Tenn.). Kosrow, Barkley, Riberdy, and McDaniel were named to the all-academic for the second time.
