Head Coach Ralph Hodge and the Olivet Nazarene University
men's basketball program welcome the fifth member to the 2013
recruiting class: Tanner Ribbe, a 6-foot-1 guard from Bismarck, Ill. Ribbe played
at Bismarck-Henning during his prep career and played for the Loggers of
Lincolnland Community College during the 2012-2013 season.
Ribbe had a great high school career, highlighted during his senior season by selection to the AP All-State (HM) Team, and all-county,
all-conference, all-area first teams. In 2012, he was also a Country Companies 3-Point
State Qualifier and was named the Commercial News Player of the
Year. He started all four years and was named team MVP three times at
At Lincolnland (15-16), he played in 26 games while starting
two, leading the team in assist to turnover ratio (1.4).
Following his senior season, Ribbe played in the Illinois
Basketball Coaches’ Association All-Star Game, News-Gazette All-Star Game, and
Battle of the Border All-Star Game. He was also the Hayden’s Classic Tournament
MVP in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and the GCMS Tournament MVP in 2011.
As a senior, he averaged 18 points, six rebounds, three steals and shot 78 percent from the free-throw line during his career. He
finished his prep career with 1,454 points (second all-time), first in steals,
second in assists. He also was a part of the football and baseball teams at Bismarck-Henning.
Ribbe will study elementary education while at Olivet. He finished with
an overall 3.0 GPA and was a member of the student council and Fellowship of
Christian Athletes. He and his family attend Northside Church of Christ of
At Olivet, Ribbe will be asked to play the guard position.
