The Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball program and Head Coach Ralph Hodge have signed their first member to the 2014 recruiting class. Tiger basketball welcomes local-product, Bennet Schimmelpfennig, a 5-foot-10 guard from Bourbonnais, Ill. He played at local Bradley-Bourbonnais High School and will finish a great prep career in March.

His high school career was highlighted by his reign as 2013 Country Companies IHSA 4A Three-Point Shootout champion in March. He is a team captain (2012-14), a three-year starter (2011-14) and a four-year varsity player (2010-14).

While at Bradley-Bourbonnais, Bennet also played baseball for the Boilers. He has been a two-year varsity starter, batting .350 in 2013.

Bennet finished high school with an overall 4.0 GPA and has been a three-year honor roll student. In addition, he is a member of the National Honor Society. Currently, he is undecided on what he will study at Olivet.

He and his family attend Kankakee First Church of the Nazarene. He has traveled to Ohio, Kentucky and Costa Rica on mission trips. His father, Jeff, served as an assistant for Coach Hodge and later as the University's athletic director.
