The Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball program and
Head Coach Ralph Hodge have signed
their first member to the 2014 recruiting class. Tiger basketball welcomes local-product, Bennet Schimmelpfennig, a 5-foot-10 guard
from Bourbonnais, Ill. He played at local Bradley-Bourbonnais High
School and will finish a great prep career in March.
His high school career was highlighted by his reign as 2013
Country Companies IHSA 4A Three-Point Shootout champion in March. He is a team
captain (2012-14), a three-year starter (2011-14) and a four-year varsity
While at Bradley-Bourbonnais, Bennet also played baseball
for the Boilers. He has been a two-year varsity starter, batting .350 in 2013.
Bennet finished high school with an overall 4.0 GPA and has
been a three-year honor roll student. In addition, he is a member of the National
Honor Society. Currently, he is undecided on what he will study at
He and his family attend Kankakee First Church of the Nazarene. He has traveled to Ohio, Kentucky and Costa Rica on mission
trips. His father, Jeff, served as an assistant for Coach Hodge and later as the University's athletic director.
