Sophomore Aaron Larson earned his first career CCAC Player of the Week honor on Tuesday
CHICAGO --- A career-high scoring night and a double-double
during the period from Jan. 27-Feb. 2 have earned Olivet Nazarene University's Aaron Larson (Tolono, Ill.) Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors, it
was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Larson becomes the first Tiger player to earn the distinction this
A 6-7 sophomore forward, Larson recorded his eighth
double-double of the season on Thursday in an 85-78 conference victory over
Trinity Christian College. He finished
that contest with 25 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two
steals, while also shooting .600 from the field (9-of-15) and a perfect 1.000
from the foul line (7-of-7).
Two days later, Larson hit for 30 points (his career high)
on 12-of-19 shooting from the field, while again being perfect at the free
throw line (4-for-4) in a 92-82 win over Purdue University Calumet. He also sank two treys in three
attempts. His other numbers included
five rebounds, two blocks and one assist.
For the two games combined, Larson averaged 27.5 points, 9.0
rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 steals per game, while authoring a
.618 field goal percentage (21-of-34) and the perfect free throw reading
For the season, Larson ranks second in the conference in
rebounding (8.9 rpg) and sixth in scoring (16.7 ppg).
Olivet Nazarene's two league wins, including the latter
which gave head coach Ralph Hodge the 700th victory of his career, moved the
Tigers into a tie for first place in the CCAC South Division. ONU is 11-11 overall and 9-4 in league play.
