ONU men's basketball spent a day with Nazarene Athletics for the eighth straight year
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — The weekend of Feb. 8-9, was rewarding for the ONU men’s
basketball team. For the eighth consecutive year, the Tigers spent two days
with Nazarene Athletics, a youth sports organization from Chicago Heights
Church of the Nazarene. The team hosted the group at the Tigers’ 59-42 win over
Holy Cross College (Ind.) on Saturday, then traveled to Chicago Heights for morning
worship and a basketball clinic.
Following lunch with Senior Pastor Randy Dodd and Nazarene
Athletics Director Jeff Hale, the Tigers held a basketball clinic involving
approximately 30 children. The Tigers led drills, demonstrated basketball
techniques and participated in an autograph session. There were also contests to win prizes and time set aside for the children to interact with the players before the Tigers left for Bourbonnais.
Farchmin (Mahomet, Ill.) commented on his experience: “Today was an awesome
combination of being able to play basketball and live as a godly example for young
kids! It’s such a blessing when God can use the talents He gave to you to
further His kingdom.”
