The Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball program and
Head Coach Ralph Hodge have signed their second member to the 2014 recruiting
class. Tiger basketball welcomes local standout Chris Green, a 6-foot guard from Bonfield, Ill. He plays for Kankakee
Trinity Academy and will finish his great prep career this month.
Chris recently broke the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) record for career points
(3,391) in 123 games (32.2 ppg), previously held by Charles Vaughn (Tamms High
School). He broke the record in his final game of the season, making two
free-throws early in the contest.
Currently during his senior season, Chris averaged 33.9
points, 6.2 assists, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 steals, shooting 40 percent from the
three-point line (112 made three-pointers), 53 percent from the field and 85
percent from the free-throw line. He helped his team to a 30-5 overall
record and was named to The Daily-Journal All-Area Team in March.
During his career, Chris has many achievements, including earning South
Shore Christian Conference (SSCC) First Team All-Conference honors in 2013 and
2014. He was a Daily Journal All-Area selection in 2012 and 2013.
He was selected as the Berean Tip-Off Tournament MVP in 2011 and the Kankakee
Trinity Academy Roundball Invitational MVP (2012, 2013, 2014). In addition, he
was an all-tournament selection for the Calumet Winter Classic (2012, 2013) and
Berean Tip-Off Tournament (2013).
During his junior year, Chris scored a career-high 58 points and
made nine three-pointers against Mountain Top Christian. He scored 51 points
in the championship game of the KTA Roundball Tournament versus Victory
During his senior year, Chris scored 58 points, going
20-for-21 from the free-throw line, and 17-for-26 from the floor in an overtime
win against Families of Faith Christian. Also, he scored 32 points, 11 assists
and nine rebounds and a game-winner against Heritage Christian. He scored 44
points, 34 in the second half, in the SSCC Championship Game.
Chris has helped his team to the 2014 SSCC Conference
Tournament Championship, second place ACSI State Tournament finish (2014) and KTA
Roundball title (2012, 2013, 2014). In 2012, he helped his team to the Calumet Christian
Winter Classic Championship.
In addition to his career with Kankakee Trinity Academy,
Chris played with Example Sports as a member of the Amateur Athletic Union
(AAU). He helped his team win the NAYS Nationals in 2012 and 2013.
While in high school, Chris also played baseball for Grace
Baptist Academy and will play for Trinity this spring. He batted .460 during his sophomore season and was selected as
his team’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Chris finished high school with an overall 4.0 GPA. He will study exercise science while at Olivet.
He and his family attend Herscher Christian Church. He
participated in a 300-mile bike ride for HIS Home 300 to bring water to a village
in Africa. He also helped at a homeless shelter and volunteered with Feed My
Green joins fellow member of the 2014-15 recruiting class;
