NORMAL, Ill. – After moving up one spot in the NAIA Top 25 poll, the No. 23 Olivet Nazarene University men's cross country team finished fifth at the Illinois Intercollegiate, hosted by Illinois State University at Weibring Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 14.
The Tigers bested 24 other teams in the eight-kilometer race and placed four runners among the top 50 out of 270 competitors in the College Division.
The Tigers were led by Marshall Hawn (Goshen, Ind.), who finished 34th place with a time of 25 minutes, 54 seconds. Daniel Wells (Danville, Ill.) finished 42nd in 26:16, while senior Kasey Ferrigan (Dixon, Ill.) finished 43rd with a time of 26:17. Nicholas Mizeur (Moline, Ill.) came in 44th with a time of 26:17, and Ron Milbocker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) finished 54th in 26:35.
Caleb Bernhardt (Green Bay, Wis.) finished 62nd in 26:46, and Michael Redmond (Batavia, Ill.) finished 73rd in 27:04.
North Central College (Ill.) finished first overall, while the University of St. Francis (Ill.) took second, Augustana College (Ill.) claimed third and the University of Chicago (Ill.) finished fourth.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, hosted by Augustana College. The race will be held at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., starting at 5 p.m.
