BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — After placing 22nd in last
year’s NAIA National Championship meet, the now No. 12-ranked Olivet Nazarene
University men’s cross country team is back for the 2013 season. They
started the season with the Midwest Classic at Aspen Ridge Golf Course in
Bourbonnais. With 12 teams represented and 128 racers, ONU came out on top, placing seven runners in the top 10 and 16 in the top 50.
The Tigers were led by Dylan
Creger (Almont, Mich.), who won the race with a time of 25:52.15. Junior Ethan Gallagher (Parsippany, N.J.)
finished third (26:03.26), and Mitchell
Dale (Rochester Hills, Mich.) was right behind him at 26:05.01. Freshman Caleb Drake (Rock Island, Ill.) came in
fifth with a time of 26:07.77, and junior Andrew
Cowen (Carmel, Ind.) ran a 26:19.43 to finish sixth.
Junior Ian Lofgren
(Rockford, Ill.) ran 26:35.19 to finish eighth, and senior Brian Willoughby (Elkhart, Ind.) came
in ninth (26:42.39).
In all, 31 of the 42 Tiger runners competed in the race to
start the 2013 season.
Indiana Tech finished second, Trinity Christian College
(Ill.) came in third, St. Xavier University (Ill.) came in fourth, and Taylor
University (Ind.) rounded out the top five.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, September 13, at
5:45 p.m. for the Illinois Intercollegiate at Aspen Ridge Golf Course in
