Junior Marshall Hawn finished sixth for ONU and 110th overall en route to a 11th-place finish for the Tigers
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The
top third of the NAIA No. 6-ranked Olivet Nazarene University men’s cross
country traveled north to run in the well-known 28th Roy Griak
Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minn., on
Saturday, Sept. 28. The Tigers participated in the men’s Division II race and
bested 29 other teams, with four runners in the top 100. A total of 458 runners
competed in the 8k race. ONU finished 14th out of 44 teams against a very tough field.
Creger (Almont, Mich.) finished 30th overall and led the Tigers
with a time of 26:17. Junior Ethan
Gallagher (Parsippany, N.J.), who finished 62nd (26:46), came in second for
ONU. Freshman Caleb Drake (Rock Island,
Ill.) came in 85th with a time of 27:02, and junior Ian Lofgren (Rockford, Ill.) ran 27:10
to finish 97th. Senior Brian
Willoughby (Elkhart, Ind.) finished 109th and ran a 27:17 to
round out the top five for ONU.
Junior Marshall Hawn
(Goshen, Ind.) finished 121st with a time of 27:23, and senior Daniel Wells (Danville, Ill.)
ran 27:24 to finish 122nd.
In all, 11 Tigers ran in the team's third race of the 2013
Augustana College (S.D.) won the event, University of
Wisconsin-La Crosse finished second, Central Missouri State University finished
third, Lakehead University (Ontario) finished fourth and UC-San Diego
ONU will participate in the NAIA Great Lakes Invite, hosted by Aquinas College (Mich.) on
Saturday, Oct. 12. The meet will be run in Grand Rapids, Mich. at Riverside
Park starting at 11:15 a.m.
