GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Head Coach Mike McDowell and the No. 12-ranked ONU men’s cross country team took the trail against some of the best NAIA teams in the nation at the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 26. Aquinas College (Mich.) hosted the meet at Riverside Park. In all, 25 Tigers ran in the team's sixth race of the 2013 season. Out of 37 teams, Olivet finished second, behind fellow CCAC team St. Francis (Ill.) only. For the fourth time in six races this season, the Tigers finished in the top two.
Junior Ethan Gallagher (Parsippany, N.J.) finished sixth with a time of 25:04. Junior Mitchell Dale (Rochester Hills, Mich.) finished 11th with a time of 25:25. Freshman Caleb Drake (Rock Island, Ill.) came in 13th with a time of 25:34. Sophomore Dylan Creger (Almont, Mich.) finished 19th at 25:41. Junior Ian Lofgren (Rockford, Ill.) ran 25:55 to finish 20th.
Freshman Jason Reynolds (Rockford, Ill.) ran 25:56 to finish sixth for ONU and 29th overall. Junior Andrew Cowen (Carmel, Ind.) finished 26:09 and 41st.
The University of St. Francis (Ill.) beat the Tigers by only three points (69-66). Aquinas College (Mich.) came in third, Shawnee State University (Ohio) finished fourth, and St. Xavier University (Ill.) came in fifth.
ONU will participate in the CCAC Championships, hosted by Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.), at Sunset Hill Farm Co. Park in Valparaiso, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m.
