BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - For the fourth year straight, the No. 24 Olivet Nazarene University men's cross country team opened its season with a first-place finish at the Midwest Classic at Aspen Ridge Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 8.
Host Olivet bested nine other teams in the eight-kilometer race and placed three runners in the top 10 out of 112 competitors.
The Tigers were led by Marshall Hawn (Goshen, Ind.), who finished in sixth place with a time of 26 minutes, 46.49 seconds. Daniel Wells (Danville, Ill.) finished seventh in 26:59.11, while Ron Milbocker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) finished ninth in 27:04.48.
Caleb Bernhardt (Green Bay, Wis.) finished 14th in 27:27.46, James Fisher (Wales, Mich.) finished 16th in 27:31.02 and Nicholas Mizeur (Moline, Ill.) finished 20th in 27:40.88. Ian Lofgren (Rockford, Ill.) finished 28th in 27:52.70.
St. Ambrose University (Iowa) finished second overall, while St. Xavier University (Ill.) took third, Trinity Christian College (Ill.) claimed fourth and Taylor University (Ind.) finished fifth.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 14, at the Illinois Intercollegiate, hosted by Illinois State University. The race will be held at Weibring Golf Course in Normal, Ill., starting at 5:45 p.m.
