Tigers finally get back on the course; finish 6th in ONU Spring Invite

CRETE, Ill. — For the first time in 172 days, the Olivet Nazarene University's top men's golf team competed in a tournament. The Tigers had to wait to get their spring season started due to inclement weather in early March. However, ONU hosted the ONU Spring Invitational at Balmoral Woods Golf Club on Wednesday, April 3.

Olivet finished with an 18-hole score of 320 (+32) on the 6648-yard, par-72 course. The Tigers' sixth place finish was out of 11 teams, competing against a total of 68 golfers.

The University of St. Francis (Ill.) finished first with a score of 301 (+13). St. Xavier University (Ill.) took second with a score of 310 (+22). Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) finished third with a score of 314 (+26). Illinois Community College and Trinity Christian College (Ill.) took fourth with a score of 318 (+30).

Freshman Ethan Drooger (Holland, Mich.) led the Tigers with a 76 (+4), tied for seventh. Senior Aaron Miles (Holt, Mich.) scored an 80 (+8) to finish 19th. Sophomore Michael Bork (Rapid City, Mich.) and junior Tyler Karraker (Bourbonnais, Ill.) each shot an 82 (+10) and finished tied for 26th. Freshman Ryan Muzljakovich (Vicksburg, Mich.) finished tied for 51st with an 88 (+16).

As individuals, freshman Robert Wagner (Bethel, Ohio) finished tied for 20th with an 81 (+9). Senior Kyle Huber (Grand Blanc, Mich.) shot a 88 (+16), good for a tie for 51st. Sophomore Cameron Aaron (Anderson, Ind.) shot a 95 (+23), tied for 65th. Junior Darin Lamont (Crawfordsville, Ind.) shot a 98 (+26), placing him 67th.

The Tigers will be back on the course  for the Millikin Spring Invite on Thursday, April 4, starting at 12 p.m. in Decatur, Ill.
