CRETE, Ill. — With a trip to the NAIA National Championships
on the line, the Olivet Nazarene University men’s golf team had two rounds of
golf to prove they were the best in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic
Conference (CCAC). The Tigers competed with five golfers, two of whom had never
competed in a conference championship. However, ONU hosted a tournament earlier
in the year at the course where the tournament was played, possibly giving them a
The Tigers participated in the 36-hole, two-day event, played
at Balmoral Woods Country Club in Crete, Ill. A total of 54 golfers played at
the par-72, 6648-yard course.
There were 10 other schools represented: the University of
St. Francis (Ill.) won the conference championship with a 604 (+28), Holy Cross
College (Ind.) came in second with a 606 (+30), and St. Xavier University
(Ill.) finished third with a 609 (+33).
Bork (Rapid City, Mich.) (81-77) and senior Aaron Miles (Holt, Mich.) (82-76) tied for 15th after each shooting
a 158 (+14). Junior Tyler Karraker
(Bourbonnais, Ill.) finished with a 162 (80-82, +18), tied for 24th.
Freshman Ethan Drooger (Holland, Mich.) came
in 33rd with a 166 (83-83, +22).
Freshman Ryan Muzljakovich (Vicksburg,
Mich.) finished tied for 34th with a 167 (86-81, +23).
The Tigers finished up their spring season with the CCAC
Championships and will pick things up in the fall of 2013.
