Tigers host ONU Fall Invite, come in ninth

CRETE, Ill. — The Olivet Nazarene University men’s golf team hosted a fall invite on Thursday, Sept. 26, and finished ninth out of 11 teams. They shot a team score of 342 (+54) with scores ranging from 80 to 93.

The Tigers participated in the 18-hole, one-day event played at Balmoral Woods Country Club in Crete, Ill. A total of 64 golfers played at the par-72, 6,700-yard course.

With 10 other schools represented, NCAA Division III Illinois Wesleyan University won the event with a 298 (+10). Purdue University-Calumet (Ind.) came in second with a 317 (+29), and NCAA Division I Chicago State University (Ill.) came in third with a 318 (+30).

Sophomore Robert Wagner (Bethel, Ohio) shot an 80 (+8) to finish tied for 18th. Junior Michael Bork (Rapid City, Mich.) finished second for the Tigers, shooting an 84 (+12) and coming in tied for 30th. Sophomore Ryan Muzljakovich (Vicksburg, Mich.) finished with an 85 (+13), tied for 33rd. Sophomore Ethan Drooger (Holland, Mich.) shot a 93 (+21) and tied for 51st. Senior Tyler Karraker (Bourbonnais, Ill.) also shot a 93 (+21), finishing tied for 51st.  

Freshman Cole Evenson (Princeton, Ill.) tied for 22nd with an 82 (+10). Freshman Jordan Spay (Bettendorf, Iowa) came in 41st as an individual, shooting an 89 (+17). Sophomore Darin LaMont (Crawfordsville, Ind.) shot a 99 (+27) and finished 59th. Luke Lambert (Crown Point, Ind.) came in 61st with a 106 (+34).

ONU competes next Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Trinity Christian College (Invite). The one-day event will be played at Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Ill., starting at 10 a.m.
