Michael Bork bested the rest of the field at the Troll Classic by three strokes with a 68 (-3)
HOMEWOOD, Ill. — Junior Michael
Bork (Rapid City, Mich.) finished as the individual medalist of the Troll
Classic, hosted by Trinity Christian College and played at Calumet Country Club in Homewood,
Ill. Bork shot a 68 (-3), winning by three strokes at the one-day event. He led
the ONU men’s golf team to a fourth place finish (314, +30).
The Tigers participated in the 18-hole, one-day event. A total of 57 golfers played at the
par-71, 6,589-yard course.
With eight other schools represented, NCAA Division I Chicago
State University (Ill.) won the event with a 298 (+14). St. Xavier University
(Ill.) came in second with a 302 (+18). University of St. Francis (Ill.) came
in third with a 308 (+24), and Trinity Christian College (Ill.) finished fifth
with a 317 (+33).
Bork finished with a 68 (36-32), shooting nine strokes
better than he had all season. Freshman Cole Evenson (Princeton, Ill.) tied for
16th with a 79 (+8). Freshman Jordan
Spay (Bettendorf, Iowa) came in tied for 28th, shooting an 82 (+11).
Sophomore Ryan Muzljakovich (Vicksburg,
Mich.) finished with an 85 (+14), good for 40th. Sophomore Robert Wagner (Bethel, Ohio) shot an 88
(+17) to finish tied for 45th.
Bork, Evenson and Spay all scored their best rounds of the
fall 2013 season at the Troll Classic.
ONU will be on the course again Monday and Tuesday,
Oct. 7 and 8, at the Taylor University (Ind.) Invitational. The two-day event will
be played at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Mich.
