LAPORTE, Ind. — After a 196 day layoff from their last match, the Olivet Nazarene University men’s golf team showed zero rust playing in their
first action in the spring. The Tigers competed in the Purdue University-North
Central (Ind.) Invite at Briar Leaf Golf Club in LaPorte, Ind., Monday morning, March 31, against six other schools.
A total of 35 golfers played in the 18-hole, two-day event
at the par-72, 6,850-yard course. Olivet finished with a team score of 306
(+18). Purdue University-Calumet (309, +21) came in second, Trinity Christian
College (320, +32) came in third, and the host school shot a 336 (+48) to come
in fourth. ONU’s second squad shot a combined 344 (+56).
Freshman Luke Lambert
(Crown Point, Ind.) led the Tigers with a 74 (+2), finishing tied for
second overall. Freshman Jordan Spay
(Bettendorf, Iowa) shot a 75 (+3) to finish fourth. Sophomore Robert Wagner (Bethel, Ohio) came in
seventh overall shooting a 78 (+6). Junior Michael
Bork (Rapid City, Mich.) finished tied for ninth with 79 (+7) along with senior Tyler Karraker (Bourbonnais, Ill.).
The Tigers' second squad to compete was led by sophomore Ethan
Drooger (Holland, Mich.) shot an 80 (+8) to finish tied for 13th. Freshman Cole Evenson (Princeton, Ill.) finished
19th with an 83 (+11). Sophomore Ryan
Muzljakovich (Vicksburg, Mich.) finished with an 87 (+15) and tied for 25th. Sophomore Darin LaMont
(Crawfordsville, Ind.) came in tied for 31st with a 94 (+22).
ONU will return to the course on Tuesday, April 8 for the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Spring Invite at 12 p.m. The match will be played at Inwood Golf Course Joliet, Ill.
