JOLIET, Ill. — Placing two golfers in the top 10 among 56 total participants, the Olivet Nazarene University men’s golf team continued their hot play early in the spring season. The Tigers finished second out of 10 teams in the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Spring Invite. They shot a combined score of 303 (+19) at Inwood Golf Course. The Tigers’ score is the program’s best team total in a year (fall and spring season).

A total of 56 golfers played in the 18-hole, one-day event at the par-71, 6,196-yard course. Olivet finished with a team score of 303 (+19). St. Francis (Ill.) (286, +2) won the event, Elmhurst College (Ill.) (306, +22) came in third, and Roosevelt University (Ill.) (310, +26) was fourth.

Freshman Cole Evenson (Princeton, Ill.) finished tied for seventh with senior Tyler Karraker (Bourbonnais, Ill.) with a 75 (+4). Junior Michael Bork (Rapid City, Mich.) finished tied for 12th with 76 (+5). Freshman Luke Lambert (Crown Point, Ind.) led the Tigers with a 77 (+6), finishing tied for 18th overall. Freshman Jordan Spay (Bettendorf, Iowa) shot a 78 (+7) to finish tied for 23rd.

Two individuals played on Tuesday. Sophomore Ryan Muzljakovich (Vicksburg, Mich.) finished with a 78 (+7) and tied for 23rd. Sophomore Robert Wagner (Bethel, Ohio) came in 29th overall, shooting an 80 (+9).

ONU will return to the course on Friday and Saturday, April 11-12, at the Augustana College (Ill.) Invite,  played at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Ill. Friday’s round begins at 12 p.m. and Saturday’s at 9 a.m.
