FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Junior Michael Da Silva (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) scored on a free kick in overtime to give the Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer team its fourth win in five matches — a 2-1 victory over Indiana Institute of Technology on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Indiana Tech (4-2) took control early when Aultain Gaye scored unassisted in the eighth minute. However, the Tigers (4-2) responded 10 minutes later when forward Todd Bevan (Schererville, Ind.) scored inside the box to tie the game. Tyler Gill (Plainfield, Ill.) and Logan Engelkes (Winnebago, Ill.) assisted on the goal.
From there, the defenses took over and didn't allow another score until overtime. Indiana Tech outshot Olivet 23-11 overall, but only five of the Warriors' shots were on goal. Keeper Tim Walker (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished with four saves.
Olivet plays next at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in a home game against No. 19 Ashford University (Iowa).
