ELGIN, Ill. — The Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer team led early but settled for a 2-2 double-overtime tie against Judson University (Ill.) on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The Tigers (4-2-2, 0-0-1), in their third straight overtime game and second straight draw, struck in the sixth minute when Elliot Totsch (Oswego, Ill.) scored his first goal off an assist by Logan Engelkes (Winnebago, Ill.). The Tigers scored again at the 33:48 mark when Michael Da Silva (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) put the ball into the back of the net for his third goal of the year. Engelkes tallied the assist, his fifth of the season.
But Olivet couldn't hold the lead in its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener.
In the second half, the Eagles (3-3-2, 0-0-1) responded with a goal in the 51st minute when Jason Mok scored unassisted. Just 10 minutes later, Walter Lopez tied the game on an assist by Santiago Munoz.
ONU finished with 14 shots compared to Judson’s 11, including six on goal for the Tigers. Keeper Zach Chambers (Flanders, N.J.) finished with four saves.
Olivet continues conference play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with a road game against Roosevelt University (Ill.).
