BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Junior Todd Bevan’s (Schererville, Ind.) three points against CCAC opponent Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Tuesday night, October 8, helped the ONU men’s soccer team to a fourth straight win and fourth in conference play. The Tigers defeated the Trolls 3-0 and recorded their fourth shutout of the season.

It only took Todd Bevan 36 seconds to open up a lead for ONU (7-3-1, 4-1) as Aaron Chatfield (Petoskey, Mich.) delivered a ball to the box where Bevan scored for his third goal of the year. The Troll (3-6-1, 0-3) defense was stunned by the immediate attack. However, they were not shaken as they kept the Tigers out of the net for the next 29 minutes until senior Michael Da Silva (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) scored his fifth goal of the year to make it 2-0. Da Silva was given a perfect ball in front of the net by Bevan, his third assist.

The Tigers led at halftime 2-0 and continued to dominate defensively, allowing only one total shot on goal all night. Olivet players remained patient as they looked to extend the lead. The Tigers did a nice job possessing the ball and picking their spots. In the 73rd minute, they took an opportunity in the box and ended up with a penalty kick. Paddy Hoepp (Frankfurt, Germany) converted his fourth goal of the season to make it 3-0, the eventual final score.

The game was cleanly played with only 25 fouls called and two cards handed out. Once again, the Tigers dominated in the shot column, finishing with eight compared to TCC’s five.

Sophomore goalkeeper Zach Chambers (Flanders, N.J.) recorded his fourth shutout of the season and third in the last four games. He finished the game with one save, bringing his season goals against average to 0.99.

ONU will be back in action at home on Saturday, October 12, at 2 p.m. against CCAC opponent St. Xavier University (Ill.)
