No. 13-ranked Tigers have dropped two straight matches
HOMEWOOD, Ill. — Following their first loss of the spring season, the No. 13-ranked ONU men’s tennis team was anxious to bounce back with a win against Michigan Tech on Saturday, February 23. However, the (9-1) Huskies were not willing to give one away on the road as they took a 5-3 win from the home team.
The Tigers (2-2) won two singles matches: senior (#9 ITA) Julian Kurz (Stuttgart, Germany) won [7-6, (7-5) 6-0)], and senior Diego Gonsalvez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) won (6-3, 7-5). Senior Camilo Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) lost in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 10-7).
In doubles play, the number four ranked ITA team in the nation, Kurz and Gonsalvez, won 8-1. Giraldo and sophomore Landon Williams (Erie, Penn.) lost in a close match 9-7.
The Tigers will be in action again on Wednesday, February 27, as they host Lake Superior State University in a noon match.
