Doubles team of Camilo Giraldo and Peter Jensen won Tuesday against Ohio Dominican 8-4
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — It was a rough day for the No. 13-ranked Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis team as they fell 5-4 to NCAA Division II Ohio Dominican University Panthers 5-4, giving the Panthers their first win of the year. The loss on Tuesday was the Tigers' second straight and fourth in five matches.
The Tigers (3-4) won two singles matches against Ohio Dominican (1-7), but needed three to win the match. Senior (#9 ITA) Julian Kurz (Stuttgart, Germany) lost his first match of the year (6-1, 6-2) to Walid Gtari. Senior Diego Gonsalvez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) won (6-1, 6-2). Senior Camilo Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) won his singles match (7-6, 6-0).
In doubles play, the number four ranked ITA team in the nation, Kurz and Gonsalvez, won 8-2. Giraldo and sophomore Peter Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.) won 8-4.
The Tigers continue play in Florida on Monday, March 6, with a match against Bethel University (Tenn.) at 9:30 a.m. (EST).
