CHICAGO, Ill. — After a week off, the Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis team traveled to the Windy City to play NCAA Division I team the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames. The Tigers struggled against a tough team and lost 7-0 on Saturday night.
Olivet (3-8) could not manage a point in singles play against the Flames (4-9) team, but senior Camilo Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) lost in a tough match (7-5, 6-4). Senior Josue Sanchez (Morelia, Mexico) lost (7-5, 6-1).
The Tigers lost their number two and three doubles matches 8-1 and 8-4, respectively. The number four ranked ITA team in the nation, Julian Kurz (Stuttgart, Germany) and Diego Gonsalvez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico), were losing 6-5 when they retired.
ONU will be back on the court Saturday, March 23, against Spring Arbor University (Mich.) on the road starting at 2 p.m.
