GRIFFITH, Ind. — In a week of four matches in three days, the Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis tried to secure win number two over conference opponent Purdue University-Calumet (Ind.) on Thursday, April 18. The Tigers defeated the Peregrines 9-0 to claim their third straight match.
In singles play, the Tigers (6-10, 2-1) took all six matches from the Peregrines (0-10, 0-4). Senior Camilo Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) won (6-1, 6-0), and Josue Sanchez (Morelia, Mexico) won (6-1, 6-0). Peter Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.) won every set (6-0, 6-0). Seth Perry (Jefferson, Ohio) defeated Noah Allen (6-0, 6-1), and Jordan Lingle (Fishers, Ind.) defeated Trent Tucker (6-0, 6-0). Mat Bowden (Spring Arbor, Mich.) won (6-0, 6-0).
The Tigers gained all three points in doubles play. The No. 6-ranked team in ITA, Julian Kurz (Stuttgart, Germany) and Diego Gonsalvez (San Luis Potosi, Mexico), won 8-0. It was Kurz’s 98th career win. Josue Sanchez and Jensen won 8-2, and Jordan Lingle and Mat Bowden won 8-1.
ONU will be back on the court Friday, April 19, at home against Judson University (Ill.) at 2 p.m.
