BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — For the second time in a week, the Tigers
celebrated a major individual accomplishment. Senior Julian Kurz (Stuttgart, Germany) won his 100th career
match during the Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis match with Judson
University (Ill.) on Friday, April 19. With a Tigers' victory, they swept all four
opponents this week and won their fifth match in a row.
The Tigers (8-10, 4-1) dominated singles play, losing only 25
of a possible 72 sets to the Eagles (4-10, 3-2). Julian Kurz, the No. 15-ranked ITA singles player, won his 100th career match over Reilly
Good (6-0, 6-2). Diego Gonsalvez (San
Luis Potosi, Mexico) won (6-4, 6-1). Camilo
Giraldo (Medellin, Colombia) won his
match (6-1, 6-1), and Josue Sanchez
(Morelia, Mexico) only lost two sets all day (6-2, 6-0). Peter Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.) won
(6-4, 6-0), and Seth Perry (Jefferson,
Ohio) defeated Jon Moment (7-6 (4), 6-4).
Olivet gained all three points in doubles play. The ITA No.
5-ranked team of Kurz and Gonsalvez won 8-2 for Julian’s 99th
career win. Camilo Giraldo and Landon
Williams (Erie, Penn.) defeated Balase and Moment 8-4. Josue Sanchez and Peter Jensen won 8-4, completing the four-match sweep for the week.
ONU will be back on the court next week starting on Tuesday,
April 23, in the CCAC Tournament.
