BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — For the second straight day, head coach Chris Tudor and the Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis team traveled for a road match to play a NCAA Division II opponent. On Saturday, the Tigers played Ferris State University (Mich.) and fell to the Bulldogs 7-2, falling below the .500 mark.

In singles play, the Tigers (2-3) fell behind early dropping four of six matches. Navarro Veys (Mortsel, Belgium) lost (6-0, 6-2) to a very formidable Laurent Galarneau. Oscar Mancineiras (Lleida, Spain) gained the first point for the Tigers with a win over No. 2 Aaron Dial  (6-1, 6-2). Juan Morales (Madrid, Spain) dropped his singles match to Laurent Mailloux (6-0, 6-3) to give the Bulldogs (1-1) a 2-1 lead. Caio Barros (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) fell (6-2, 6-1) to No. 4 Otto Keresztes. Peter Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.)  lost to Jose Calero (6-2, 6-1), while freshman Tyler Ellis (Danville, Ill.) defeated A. Giacomazzi Serafim (7-6, 6-4).

Trailing 4-2 and needing three points in doubles play, ONU lost all hope in the first match when the team of Veys and Mancineiras lost to Galarneau and Dial 8-2. Morales and Barros fell to Mailloux and Keresztes 8-5 to give the Bulldogs a 6-2 lead. The final point went to Justin Ecclestone and Will Huntington, who beat Jensen and Ellis 8-1.

ONU will be back in action on Thursday, February 20 at DePauw University (Ind.) at 4:30 p.m. (EST).
