GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Head Coach Chris Tudor had the Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis team on the road for the third time in two weeks. On Thursday afternoon, Feb. 20, the Tigers were in Indiana to match up against NCAA Division III DePauw University (Ind.). ONU gained three points and fell in three other tough matches, falling 6-3.

In singles play, the Tigers (2-4) gained two points from the play of Oscar Cornella (Lleida, Spain), who defeated Sam Miles (6-2, 6-4). Landon Williams (Erie, Penn.) beat Patrick Farrell (6-3, 6-3) for the Tigers second point. Navarro Veys (Mortsel, Belgium) dropped the No. 1 match to Ben Kopecky (6-2, 7-5). Juan Morales (Madrid, Spain) lost to Alec Kaczkowski in a great three set match (6-2, 3-6, 6-1).

Caio Barros (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) took his first set over Nick Thompson, but dropped the last two to give DePauw (2-1) the win (1-6, 6-3, 6-4). Peter Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.) lost to Matt Santen in the sixth singles match up of the day (6-1, 7-5).

The Tigers needed all three points in doubles play in order to take the match, but were unable to clinch it, taking only one point when Williams and Veys beat Kopecky and Miles 8-5. Morales and Barros fell to Eric Vannatta and Alec Kaczkowski 8-2, and Cornella and Jensen dropped a very close match to Thompson and Farrel 9-8 (7-3).

ONU will be back in action Friday, Feb. 21, at home against the University of Northwestern Ohio at 12 p.m.
