CHICAGO --- Earning a pair of doubles wins against ranked teams and four victories overall during the week ending March 16, Olivet Nazarene University's Oscar Cornella (Lleida, Spain) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Cornella, a freshman, teamed up with Navarro Veys at No. 3 doubles to knock off NAIA No. 19 Warner's (Fla.) team of Daniel Mora and Vitor Schepper, 9-7, on Tuesday and then paired up with Peter Jensen at No. 3 on Friday to defeat NAIA No. 1 Embry-Riddle's (Fla.) combination of Miguel Lopez Gomez and Juan Verberne, 9-8 (11-9).  In between, Cornella and Veys picked up an 8-4 win against Young Harris (Ga.), also at No. 3.  Cornella also won his No. 2 singles match that day, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

Cornella is 16-5 in singles play this year and 7-8 on the doubles circuit.

As a team, Olivet Nazarene – No. 23 in the latest poll – defeated Young Harris, 5-4, while dropping identical 6-3 contests to Warner and Embry-Riddle during the week to sit at 3-7 overall on the season.
