Tigers take third straight CCAC win, defeat Cardinal Stritch 9-0

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — For their third straight match, the No. 23-ranked Olivet Nazarene University men’s tennis team and head coach Chris Tudor were in CCAC action, facing off against Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.). ONU swept its third straight conference match over the Wolves, only losing only 11 sets out of 35 in doubles play and only 18 sets in six singles matches.

On Friday, the Tigers (6-7, 3-0) dominated the No. 1 doubles matches by the score of 8-2 against the Crimson Wave (7-11, 1-1). Landon Williams (Erie, Pa.) and Rodolfo Sanchez (Morelia, Mexico) defeated George Watson and Phillip Meller. Navarro Veys (Mortsel, Belgium) and Caio Barros (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) won 8-4 over Donnersson Penna and Jimmy Le. Peter Jensen (Yuba City, Calif.) and Oscar Cornella (Lleida, Spain) took match No. 3 by a score of 8-5 over Nader Murad and Raymond Welch.

In singles, No. 1 Veys, No. 2 Cornella, and No. 5 Barros won by a score of (6-1, 6-2) over Watson, Le, and Murad, respectively.

Rodolfo Sanchez won by a score of (6-1, 6-1) over Welch, No. 4 Williams won (6-2, 6-0) over Meller, and No. 6 won over Penna (6-0, 7-5).

ONU will be back in action Tuesday, April 8, against Marian University (Ind.) at home, starting at 3:30 p.m.
