BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – ONU men’s track and field qualified two more athletes on Saturday, February 2, at the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcat Invite in Marion, Ind. The meet was the Tigers' fifth meet of the season. Freshman Conner Stroud (Manteno, Ill.) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m, qualifying for the NAIA Indoor National Meet. Junior Ethan Gallagher (Parsippany, N.J.) took fourth in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:31.55.
The Tigers had five champions at the Wildcat Invite. Freshman Jonathan Hutchinson (Morton, Ill.) won the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.73. Marshall Hawn (Goshen, Ind.) won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.32. The 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Sam Willis (Freeport, Ill.), junior Ross Johnson (Newton, Ill.), junior Rey Keys (Matteson, Ill.) and senior Ty’Rel Fields (Huntsville, Ala.) won with a time of 3:23.58. Elisha DeRamus (Harvey, Ill.) won the triple jump with a mark of 13.93. Senior Joe Reisinger (Georgetown, Ill.) won the shot put (16.80m).
Other top performances on the track included: Hutchinson finished sixth in the 60 meter dash (7.24); Caleb Parsons (Watseka, Ill.) finished eighth in the 400 meter run with a time of 54.05; freshman Ron Milbrocker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) finished fifth in the one mile run (4:33.50); Andrew Cowen (Carmel, Ind.) finished second (9:00.81) and Mitchell Dale (Rochester Hills, Mich.) finished third (9:02.93) in the 3000 meter run.
Among the top finishers in field events, sophomore Brian Michell (Reed City, Mich.) won the pole vault for the Tigers with a mark of 4.57m. Reisinger placed third in the weight throw (16.47m). Freshman Delano Harris-Samuels (Bourbonnais, Ill.) finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.69m.
ONU will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 8-9, at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich.
