MARION, Ind. — Following a 2012 NCCAA Indoor National Championship, the ONU men’s track and field team knew they had a tough act to follow. Nonetheless, with much of the same talent returning, the same results were in reach. However, the Tigers came in third of 20 teams with 94 points — 16.5 points behind the champion, Azusa Pacific University (Calif.).

The other teams that placed were McMurry University (Tex.) (95) in second, Oklahoma Christian (79) in fourth and Cedarville University (Ohio) (56) in fifth.

The top performances on track were: freshman Delano Harris-Samuels (Bourbonnais, Ill.) who finished 15th in the 60 meter dash (7.14), tying the school record; freshman Jonathan Hutchison (Morton, Ill.) who finished 10th in the 200 meter dash (23.09); senior Ty’Rel Fields (Huntsville, Ala.) who took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.70; Marshall Hawn (Goshen, Ind.) who finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.07; junior Ethan Gallagher (Parsippany, N.J.) who took fourth in the one mile run (4:23.98); freshman Ron Milbocker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) who finished ninth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:38.91.

The 4x200 meter relay team of Jonathan Hutchison, Ty’Rel Fields, junior Rey Keys (Matteson, Ill.) and sophomore Jared Carl (Galesburg, Ill.) took fourth with a time of 1:30.91 and broke the school record.

The 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Sam Willis (Freeport, Ill.), junior Ross Johnson (Newton, Ill.), Rey Keys and senior Ty’Rel Fields finished fourth with a time of 3:24.85.

The 4x800 meter relay team of junior Brian Willoughby (Elkhart, Ind.), sophomore David Powers (Security, Colo.), freshman Isaiah Fink (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and senior Nicholas Mizeur (Moline, Ill.) took third with a time of 7:57.53.

The distance medley relay of Marshall Hawn, Sam Willis, Brian Willoughby and Ethan Gallagher finished third with a time of 10:17.31 and broke the school record

Top performances in the field included: sophomore Lucas Limberg (Rockford, Ill.) who finished second in the high jump with a mark of 2:01m; sophomore Brian Michell (Reed City, Mich.) who finished second (4.58m) in the pole vault.); Delano Harris-Samuels who finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.22m, qualifying "A" for the NAIA Indoor National meet; sophomore Elisha DeRamus (Harvey, Ill.) who finished fifth (7.13m) in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump with a 14.17m mark; senior Joe Reisinger (Georgetown, Ill.) who finished third in the shot put (16.74m) and fourth in the weight throw (16.35m); junior Sam Pimpo (Antioch, Ill.) who finished eighth in the heptathlon with a score of 4,070 — breaking his own school record set earlier this year.
