ONU starts outdoor season with third place finish at Chicagoland Championships

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — Head Coach Mike McDowell and the 2013 ONU men’s track and field team got back to work as they began their outdoor season Saturday, April 6, at the Chicagoland Championships, hosted by Lewis University (Ill.). The Tigers competed against 21 other teams and came away in third place in this outdoor meet, scoring 78 points.

North Central College (IIl.) won the event (178 points), NCAA Division I DePaul University (Ill.) finished second (128 points), and the University of Illinois-Chicago finished fourth (73 points).

Senior Joe Reisinger (Georgetown, Ill.) won the shot put with a throw of 14.93m in the finals. Sophomore Elisha DeRamus (Harvey, Ill.) finished second with a 7.17m mark in the finals of the long jump. The 4x100m relay finished sixth with a 43.31 in the finals. Kent Yamane (Wheaton, Ill.), Elisha DeRamus, Jonathan Aldrin (Woodridge, Ill.) and Jonathan Hutchison (Morton, Ill.) made up the team.

In addition, Fields finished sixth in the 100 meter dash (10.80) and seventh in the 200 meter (23.32). Jared Carl (Galesburg, Ill.) ran a 23.32 to finish seventh in the 200 meter dash. Freshman Ron Milbocker (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) finished 12th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:22.34. Caleb Parsons (Watseka, Ill.) ran a 58.34 in the 400 meter hurdles to finish fourth. Ian Lofgren (Rockford, Ill.) came in 11th in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

More top performances in the field included sophomore Lucas Limberg (Rockford, Ill.) who finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m. In the pole vault, sophomore Brian Michell (Reed City, Mich.) finished second (4.50m). Freshman Jacob Armbrust (Metamora, Ill.) took eighth in the shot put (14.19m) and first in the discus (44.73m). Joe Reisinger also finished seventh in the hammer throw (47.45m).

ONU will be back in action on Saturday, April 13, at the Benedictine Invite, hosted by Benedictine University, Lisle, Ill.
