MARION, Ind. — An outstanding season by the Olivet Nazarene
University men’s track and field team came to an end on May 25, but not before
the Tigers competed at the NAIA Outdoor National Meet at Indiana Wesleyan
University. Six athletes qualified for the national meet. Two Tigers earned all-American status, and Elisha DeRamus
(Harvey, Ill.) broke a school record in the long jump and earned status in the triple jump coming in eighth. ONU finished tied for 29th of out 60 teams with 10 points.
Sophomore DeRamus finished third in the long jump with a mark
of 7.37m. He broke his own school record set earlier this season. He also came in eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.63m, good for a second all-American selection.
In the 5000m run, junior Ethan Gallagher (Parsippany, N.J.) finished 18th with a time of 15:06.92.
(Georgetown, Ill.) finished sixth in the shot put (17.00m), good enough for
all-American status. He also threw the discus in the meet but did not record a
distance due to a fault. Reisinger was an outdoor all-American in the discus in 2012.
(Manteno, Ill.) competed in the high jump and finished 11th with
a height of 2.01m. Brian Michell (Reed
City, Mich.) and Isaac Austin
(Indianapolis, Ind.) competed in the pole vault. Michell finished 10th
with a vault of 4.60m, and Austin did not record a height.
