Olivet Nazarene finishes 2nd at Greenville Select

GREENVILLE, Ill. — In the second week of the Olivet Nazarene University men’s track and field team’s outdoor season, the Tigers traveled to southern Illinois for the Greenville (College) Select. ONU scored 99 points and finished second of 11 schools. Lindenwood University (Mo.) won the event with 143 points.

The Tigers competed well on the field. Lucas Limberg (Rockford, Ill.) won the high jump with a finishing jump of 2.00 meters. Brian Michell (Reed City, Mich.) came in third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.60 meters. In the men’s long jump, freshman Zach Gordon (Carol Stream, Ill.) won the long jump with a mark of 7.17 meters. Sophomore Jacob Armbrust (Metamora, Ill.) won the discus throw (49.70 meters) and shot put (15.34 meters). Chris Aschemann (Carterville, Ill.) came in fourth in the discus (43.41 meters), fifth in the hammer throw (43.64 meters), and third in the shot put (14.05 meters). Senior Marcus Reynolds (Green Bay, Wis.) won the javelin throw with a finals throw of 54.08 meters.

Not only did the Tigers perform on the field, but on the track as well. Elisha DeRamus (Harvey, Ill.) came in fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (16.45). Senior Mitchell Dale (Rochester Hills, Mich.) finished fifth out of 43 runners in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:05.03. Senior Ty’rel Fields (Huntsville, Ala.) beat 16 other athletes in the 400-meter dash with a finishing time of 49.03 seconds. Zach Gordon also finished third out of 22 sprinters in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.08. Nicholas Mizeur (Moline, Ill.) came in sixth out of 32 in the 800-meter run  with a time of 1 minute 56.14 seconds. Jared Carl (Galesburg, Ill.) finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.26, defeating 29 others sprinters. Freshman Alec Ondrajka (Interlochen, Mich.) finished 10th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:57.54.

ONU will be back in action on Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, April 12 at the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee. The Tigers will also compete on April 11-12 at the Lee Calhoun Invite hosted by Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill.
