MORRISON, Ill. – Junior Hannah Gardner (Frankfort, Ill.) continues to lead the No. 17 Olivet Nazarene University offense, extending her hitting streak to 19 games and her reached base streak to 40 in the Tigers four-game sweep of the Ashford University (Iowa) Invitational on April 19-20. Gardner finished the weekend 8-for-13 (.615) at the plate, helping the Tigers to wins over St. Ambrose University (Iowa), Viterbo University (Wis.), Ashford, and Lindendwood University-Belleville (Ill.).

Olivet (36-4) wasted little time getting on the board against St. Ambrose in the opener, finally winning 10-0 in five-innings. The Tigers out-hit the Fighting Bees 12 to four, led by Gardner’s 3-for-4 appearance. Junior Cheryl Sendzik (Mokena, Ill.) finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, while sophomore Megan Bulter (Frankfort, Ill.) added two hits. Junior Virginia McAndrews (Wheaton, Ill.) picked up the win on the mound, her 11th on the season. She scattered just four hits while striking out six and allowing no walks.

Sophomore Lindsay Stotler (Bloomington, Ill.) improved to 11-1 on the season with an 8-1 complete game win over Viterbo. She allowed just two hits in seven innings, while striking out eight and allowing three walks. Freshman Katie Megyesi (Washington, Ill.) went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored. Senior Bethany Holaway (Wheaton, Ill.) added a double and three runs scored.

Junior Caitlin Santefort (Mokena, Ill.) allowed just one hit in route to picking up her 13th win of the season against Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday. She recorded seven strike outs and allowed just one walk. The Tigers managed just seven hits in the contest, led by Holaway with two. Sendzik connected for her first home run of the season.

Gardner and junior Justine Phillips (Metamora, Ill.) both went 3-for-3 in the final game of the weekend against Ashford, leading the Tigers to an 11-2 five-inning win. Phillips added a double and three runs scored. Sophomore Rachel Holaway (Wheaton, Ill.) added two hits and two runs scored, including a double. McAndrews improved to 12-3 on the season, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out three.

The Tigers return to action on Monday, April 22 as they travel to Palos Heights, Ill. for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up with Trinity Christian College. The two teams have faced each other twice already this season, with the Tigers winning both.
