BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The ironic thing about the no-hitter thrown by junior Caitlin Santefort (Mokena, Ill.) against Trinity International University (Ill.) on Saturday, April 27 is that she didn’t even take the mound. The game was originally started on April 15 and suspended in the fifth inning due to rain. The Tigers took advantage of a 3-0 lead, started with a runner on first base with no outs and in matter of 15 minutes, plated five more runs to end the game and give Santefort a day off.

Olivet (43-5, 18-2) scored the five runs on four hits, a hit-by-pitch, a walk and two wild pitches. The game ultimately ended on a walk-off double off the bat of junior Justine Phillips (Metamora, Ill.). Phillips and senior Bethany Holaway (Wheaton, Ill.) each produced two hits in the game. Santefort finished the five innings complete game just one walk from pitching a perfect game, adding seven strikeouts.

The Tigers needed just seven hits and six walks to take game two of the series 8-0 in five innings. Sophomore Megan Butler (Frankfort, Ill.) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Freshman Jaimee Wiseman (Normal, Ill.) added a home run, her first of the year. Sophomore Lindsay Stotler (Bloomington, Ill.) improved to 14-1 on the season, allowing just two hits while striking out five.

Junior Hannah Gardner (Frankfort, Ill.) extended her hitting streak to 27 games, going 2-for-6 in the series. The two hits also extended her games to reach base streak to 52 games, extending into last season.

Olivet will begin the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament on Thursday, May 2. The Tigers will play host to the three-day, six-team event. Saint Xavier University captured the number one seed with a 19-1 regular season conference record.

Olivet will attempt to defend their title from a year ago as the second seed. The remaining four spots are still yet to be determined, but will be finalized by Tuesday.
