CHICAGO --- For the third time this season, Olivet Nazarene University has swept Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week distinction with junior shortstop Justine Phillips (Metamora, Ill.) and sophomore pitcher Lindsay Stotler (Bloomington, Ill.) gaining the honors for the week ending April 28, it was announced by the league office Wednesday morning.
Phillips, who earned the recognition for the second time this season, hit safely in each of her team's eight games en route to batting .464 (13-for-28) for the week with four multi-hit games. She also produced 11 runs scored and eight RBI and stole seven bases in as many attempts.
Besides batting .464 for the week, Phillips also collected four extra-base hits (2 doubles, 2 home runs) for a .750 slugging percentage and fielded all 29 of her defensive chances (17 putouts, 12 assists) cleanly.
Stotler gave up just one run in four appearances for a 0.40 earned run average, while allowing opposing batters to hit just .156 off her with only one extra-base hit. She tossed complete-game shutouts against Trinity Christian College on Monday and Trinity International University on Saturday. Her other win, a 3-1 victory over NAIA No. 11-ranked Saint Xavier, handed the Cougars their only loss of the league season.
Stotler yielded no more than four hits in any one of her four appearances covering 17 2/3 innings and struck out 11 batters opposite just two walks in that time.
Olivet Nazarene's 7-1 week concluded a 43-5 regular-season for the Tigers, who finished one game behind Saint Xavier for the league championship at 18-2.
