CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Junior Hannah Gardner (Frankfort, Ill.) not only extended her hit steak to 33 games with a single in her first at-bat of the NAIA Opening Round, but she also added a grand slam and a two RBI double. Gardner’s six RBIs helped No. 14 Olivet Nazarene University to a 7-2 win over No. 25 Indiana University –Southeast.

With an 0-1 count, she put the ball over the center field fence to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead and just the team’s second hit of the game.

IU-Southeast came right back in the bottom of the fifth with a home run of their own off the bat of Jade Detzer, pulling the game back to within two. Olivet added two more runs in the top of the sixth off of a walk by sophomore Jordy Truelock (Princeton, Ind.), single off the bat of junior Justine Phillips (Metamora, Ill.) and a double by Gardner. Freshman Katie Megyesi (Washington, Ill.) added the final run with a solo home run in top of the seventh.

Sophomore Lindsay Stotler (Bloomington, Ill.) improved to 15-1 on the season. She pitched four innings, allowing two runs on three hits. She finished with four strike outs and two walks.
