Tinley Park standout signs with Olivet; Alberto joins Tiger softball

TINLEY PARK, Ill. – Samantha Alberto, a senior at Tinley Park High School, has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and playing career at Olivet Nazarene University. She will join the Tigers softball team in the fall of 2014.
Alberto, helped lead Tinley Park to a third place finish in the IHSA State Tournament in 2013. She finished her junior year hitting .450 and an on-base-percentage of .764 with 11 home runs and 11 doubles. She was named IHSA All-State for her performance.
In 2013 Alberto, a three-sport athlete was named South Suburban (Blue) Conference All-Conference in basketball and softball and honorable mention in volleyball. She was also named All-Conference in softball in 2012.
“I chose ONU because I look forward to my future and Olivet offers everything I will need to be successful,” said Alberto of her decision. “I am looking forward to enriching my life spiritually and excelling academically and on the softball field.”
“It’s going to be great going from one successful program to another right off the bat. It is also nice that I do not have to go all the way to Tennessee to get the great Tennessee coaching,” continued Alberto.
Alberto aspires to become a strength and conditioning coach and plans to major accordingly at Olivet. She is the daughter of Ann Marie and Samuel Alberto and has two siblings, Jacquelyn and Michael.
