COLUMBUS, Ga. – Seniors Hannah Gardner and Justine Phillips repeated as NAIA
All-Americans and were joined by seniors Caitlin Santefort and Cheryl Sendzik
when the NAIA announced the teams on Friday, May 30. The foursome helped lead
the Tigers to a 49-5-1 record, including winning the Chicagoland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament, the Davenport Bracket of the
NAIA Opening Round and a trip the NAIA World Series.
Gardner , Phillips and
Santefort all earned 1st Team All-American honors. Gardner, the NAIA
Player of the Year, finished the season with a scorching .531 batting average,
including 12 home runs, two triples and 19 doubles. She drove in 73 RBIs on 86
hits. Phillips was not far behind with a .471 season batting average. She amassed
21 doubles, seven triples and four home runs, scoring 77 times with 56 RBIs.
Santefort finished with a near perfect record in the circle at 21-1. She had a
season ERA of 1.06 and a strike out to walk ratio of 120:17. She held opponents
to a mere .199 batting average.
Sendzik received Honorable
Mention All-American honors. She finished the season with a .444 batting
average with included 10 home runs and 18 doubles. She added 54 RBIs and 45
