Tiger pitchers dominate Wolves

BOURBONNAIS, Ill – Sophomore Lindsay Stotler (Bloomington, Ill.) and junior Virginia McAndrews (Wheaton, Ill.) combined to allow the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) just three hits in two games on Thursday, April 4. The pitching duo helped the Tigers improve to 8-0 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with their 6-0 and 12-0 dominating wins.
Stotler had a perfect game broken up by a bunt single off the bat of Alexy Cleaver in the fourth. Cleaver then connected for a second hit in the top of the seventh. She finished with seven strike outs and just a lone walk. Olivet posted two runs in the bottom of the first, third and fourth innings to secure the victory, improving Stotlers record to 7-1 on the season.
Olivet (25-3, 8-0) spread the offense around in game one as six batters contributed to the seven total hits. Junior Hannah Gardner (Frankfort, Ill.) went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, including a double. Sophomore Jordy Truelock (Princeton, Ill.) also connected for a double.
The Tigers offense was much more explosive in game two, combining for 15 hits. Junior Bethany Holaway (Wheaton, Ill.) was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in game two. She also crossed the plate three times and posted a stolen base. Gardner, Truelock, junior Justine Phillips (Metamora, Ill.) sophomore Megan Butler (Frankfort, Ill.) added two hits each. Truelock added a double and three RBIs.
McAndrews picked up her eighth win on the season, allowing just one hit while striking out four and walking one.
Olivet plays host to a two-day Tiger Invitational starting at noon on Friday, April 5. The Tigers open at 2:00 p.m. on Friday against Roosevelt University (Ill.) and then take on Trinity Christian College (Ill.) at 4.
