Hozian leads Tigers past Crimson

CALUMET, Ind. – Senior Katherine Hozian (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) used 17 kills with just 2 hitting errors to finish the night with an attack percentage of .500 to lead the Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The Tigers won 25-13, 20-25, 25-15, 25-12 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win. 

Senior Carolyn Goettsch (Utica, Mich.) added eight kills with two errors in 14 attempts (.429) and four block assists in the winning effort. Freshman Renee Enz (Wilmington, Ill.) provided 30 assists and five digs. 

Sophomore libero Haley Hatalla (Manteno, Ill.) ended the night with 15 digs and two aces. Hozian added eight digs, while freshman Melissa Bartholomew (Newton, Iowa) added six. The Tigers also added nine team blocks to just one by the Crimson. 

Olivet (4-13, 3-3) will participate in the two-day Indiana Institute of Technology/Indiana Wesleyan University Crossover Invitational beginning on Friday, Sept. 28. The Tigers begin the weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind. against Grace College (Ind.) at 4 p.m. (EST) and then face Indiana Tech at 6. Olivet will travel to Marion, Ind. For Saturday’s matches taking on No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan University at noon and No. 23 Taylor University (Ind.) at 2 p.m. local time.
