Tigers drop close match to Trolls

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team jumped out to an early lead on Tuesday, Oct. 2 to take the opening set 25-16 before dropping the final three sets to lose 3-1 to Trinity Christian College (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference play. The final three sets were close, going back-and-forth several times, but the Trolls came out on top in the end - 27-25, 26-24, 25-11.
Freshman setter Renee Enz (Wilmington, Ill.) finished the night with 38 assists and 13 digs for the Tigers (4-18, 3-4). Senior outside hitter Katherine Hozian (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) recorded 13 kills, while freshman Becky DeRuiter (Chicago Ridge, Ill.) added 12 kills and three service aces.
Trinity Christian (15-4, 7-0) is riding a 14-game winning streak and currently sits alone atop the CCAC South Division standings.
Olivet will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. for a two-day CCAC Conference Crossover Tournament starting on Friday, Oct. 5. The Tigers will open the competition against Judson University (Ill.) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, they will face Illinois Institute of Technology at noon and Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) at 2:30 p.m.
