Hozian, Goettsch receive post-season honors

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Though their collegiate playing careers have come to an end, two Olivet Nazarene University volleyball players continue to receive recognition for their efforts. Seniors Katherine Hozian and Carolyn Goettsch have both been selected as 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. Hozian has also been honored on the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) North Central All-Region Team.
Hozian, an outside hitter from Oak Grove Village, Ill. will graduate in May with a degree in math education. She is currently completing her student teaching and hopes to teach high school math and possible coach. She played in 462 sets in her career as a Tiger, finishing with 991 kills in 3,285 attempts (.208). She served as a team co-captain for the 2012 season.
Goettsch, a middle hitter from Utica, Mich. will complete her degree in business administration with a minor in art and graduate in May. She hopes to get her MBA and own her own business focusing on sport and art therapy.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
