BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Alaina Elliot, a senior at Herscher High School, has committed to continuing her academic and playing careers at Olivet Nazarene University as a member of the junior varsity volleyball team.
Elliot, a 5-4 setter, helped lead the Tigers to a 50-20 record in her two-year varsity career, including back-to-back conference and regional championships. She was named Most Improved Player (2011) and received the Sportsmanship Award (2012).
“I was impressed with the school and what it has to offer, both educational and spiritual. The overall feel of campus made me feel at home and welcome,” said Elliot when asked about her decision. “Also, the chance to be able to continue my volleyball career was too great of an opportunity to pass up. I am so excited to be a Tiger once again and start my college career.”
Actively involved in high school, Elliot also is a member of the softball team at Herscher and participates in Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) and Student Environment Awareness (SEA). She is also the photographer for the school publications.
Elliot also excels in the classroom, maintaining a 4.8 grade point average and is a member of National Honor Society (NHS). While at Olivet, she intends to major in nursing.
“The JV volleyball program is new to Olivet, and the coaches are great! I have worked with some in the past, and I know the amount of dedication and hard work that is required. I am excited to take on the challenge,” added Elliot.
