BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Brenda Williams, head coach of the Olivet Nazarene University volleyball team is pleased to announce that Rachel Kirby has signed a letter of intent to continue her playing career as a member of the 2014 Tiger volleyball team.
“Rachel was looking to attend a Nazarene University, we are just glad she chose us,” said Williams of her new Tiger. “Rachel brings us additional height at the net and plenty of college potential. Rachel really reminded us of our former player from Kansas, Tara Schmidt.”
Kirby, a 6-0 right-side/outside hitter, from Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas, is a three-year varsity letter winner in volleyball. As a junior, she was recognized four times as the player of the match.
“I chose Olivet because I was really looking to go to a Nazarene college where I could continue to strengthen my walk with Christ among fellow believers, while getting a strong education and improving my athletic skills,” said Kirby.
Kirby has yet to decide a major. She is the daughter of Kent and Debbie Kirby.
